| I obtained this print in the early '70s from Roger Cook
of Newark, a coworker at Western Electric in
Columbus Ohio. He got it from a man who had come to a Bible study and though it
to have been taken over Buckeye Lake after an afternoon shower. (Click on the image to see a larger version.) I have had
this 8 x 10 print in a frame ever since. The color has faded a little and the
corners show some sort of discoloring, perhaps from moisture. Other than
resizing after it was scanned, no alterations or color adjustment has
been done to the print.
I recently discovered the origin." The Clouds" is an actual photograph taken in 1972 at the O'Shaughnessy Dam in Columbus, Ohio. It was taken by Beatrice (Madden) Mielke as an answer to a prayer that she would see Jesus in the clouds. It reminds me of a painting I remember seeing as a child of Jesus with a shepherd's staff in his right hand and over His left shoulder a sling of sorts holding a lamb. It was a depiction of the parable of leaving the ninety-nine to find the one lost sheep as recorded in Luke 15. In this beautiful parable, Jesus is answering the mutterings of the Pharisees and the scribes about Him accepting, receiving and welcoming 'sinners' and even 'eating with them'.
"What man of you, if he has a hundred sheep and should lose one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays in on his own shoulders rejoicing. And when he gets home, he summons together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, because I have found my sheep which was lost.' Thus, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one wicked person who repents--changes his mind, abhorring his errors and misdeeds, and determines to enter upon a better course of life--than over ninety-nine righteous persons who have no need of repentance."
Just remember that you are exceedingly significant to God. You have great personal worth to Him.
He is closer to you than the breath that you breathe.
