When the day is through,
and thoughts turn to You
in a much less frenzied way,
I hope to find some peace
of mind from events
I've encountered today.

It's a good thing to have a few moments to oneself as the day winds down, to reflect on the day's events, conversations, headlines--all the things that touch us and help shape who we are.  Not every day engenders itself so, as there are many tasks, chores and responsibilities that tug at us.

I've also been trying to piece together a little of my Mother's life without the benefit of personal letters or writings.

So from my desire to leave my  son a little of myself, thus is born 'Evening Thoughts'. There will be nothing here profound and surely nothing that would ever be considered for publishing anywhere else.  I'm not sure where this feature is headed, but we'll see.

Today as I was looking through a folder of odds and ends that I've kept, I came across a note, a p.s., on a letter, sent to me years ago from a friend. It's a good thought.

The twilight is so beautiful,
the Earth suspended in silence.

It symbolizes man's 'moment of truth' --
God drawing us to Himself.

And I watch the veil of darkness
gently disguise this emotional moment
and wonder...
how many such cycles remain?

It's a glorious and terrible day,
This winding up of the ages.
